Fluoride treatments are part of routine care that your child will receive at Noble. There are two different types of fluoride:
Systemic fluoride
Systemic fluoride is ingested through a public water supply. While teeth are forming under the gums, the fluoride strengthens tooth enamel, making it stronger and more resistant to cavities.
Topical fluoride
Topical fluoride is found in toothpaste, mouthwash, and is applied as a treatment in our office.
What to expect
Start to finish, the fluoride treatment process takes only a few minutes. Topical fluoride is brushed on, after which your child will be asked to refrain from rinsing, eating, or drinking for at least 30 minutes to allow for absorption time. Depending on your child’ needs, Dr. Jaclyn may recommend that you return for additional fluoride treatments or she may prescribe an at-home fluoride product such as a mouthwash, gel, or antibacterial rinse.
